The Neskantaga First Nation is located near Thunder Bay, Ontario. This community in Canada has been under a water boil advisory since 1995, resulting in the evacuation of around 200 Neskantaga peoples due to unsafe drinking water. Around 240 residents were forced by water quality to leave their homes. Families, children were all growing up in homes without clean water, in our own country. Here in my own elementary on Vancouver Island, B.C. we have many fountains, taps, clean access to water. Why don't the children and families of the Neskantaga have this necessary need? Here is the story of Bee Moonias, a kid who lives with unsafe water, by the Youtube Channel - Lansdowne House.
"Get The Water Fixed." - Bee Moonias
Life without safe water is not life. Water supplies us with everything, fruit, vegetables, showers, laundry, washing your hands. Not just drinking-wise. The fact that there is a community of around 400 people in Canada without the clean water they deserve is not right. That is why we all need to work together, work as a group, not just one. Talk, inform, bring it up in the conversation. Why doesn't everyone get the safe water that they need? Just raising awareness alone, is better than doing nothing. That is why I have created Not Alone Neskantaga. This is not a problem one can simply do alone.
